Sorry I haven’t posted regularly this past week, just getting in the groove of taking classes again (Photoshop, graphic design, a whole bunch of cool crap actually) and figuring out how to allot time… but I’m going to be posting to the blog all year, there should be lots more great work surfacing and lots more Mii related stuff to write about, once the “Check Mii Out” channel drops on the Wii… can’t wait!

Anyway, here’s a re-design on Pitt and some minor adjustments to my Angelina:

Supposedly, he was born in a mental institution, and he sleeps only one hour a night. He’s a great man.

I can’t think of a more badass character, that hasn’t been properly immortalized as a Mii thus far, so I’m feeling pretty proud of myself right about now. :)

Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden, by Cjv

I’ve made attempts at many celebs, and given up because the Mi palette just didn’t have the right eyes… well if you look closely at this Mii, you’ll notice that under the sunglasses, are eyebrows overlapping one of the basic eye shapes.

Using eye/overlapping eyebrow combinations, you can make any shape eye you want. Sometimes you don’t even have to obscure it with glasses, it will still look ok (like I did with both Jamie Foxx and Denzel Washington).

To illustrate:

Hope some of you find this tip useful… here’s the video:

Before anyone asks, No, they just don’t have Tyler Durden’s hair or glasses in the Mii channel.

In trying to make a Brad Pitt, I found that if I added a spiky hairdo, the hairline becomes all fubared, and he ends up looking like Carson Daly (which is never a good thing). As such, a Durden-esque Brad just didn’t pan out… but for regular old Brad, this one does the trick, I think:

Which reminds me… I’ll share another (not-so) secret trick, with regards to making better caricatures… if you make a Mii and only succeed in making it look vaguely like your subject, because the tools just aren’t there or (as in my case) you stink at art - put it next to another Mii to give it context.

And voila, it looks like them (e.g., a guy with a white face and red lips and a big smile standing next to Batman, is obviously the Joker). Case in point: if you look at this Brad Mii by itself, it’s not as good as Angie…also, I have no idea what the Brangelina adopted children look like, and i’m not going to find out… anyway, do with this what you will!
