About this site

Welcome to ShowMii.com - pushing the limits of the Mii channel since 2006 (!!!)

All Miis on this site were created on the Nintendo Wii console, exclusively using the Mii Channel’s basic hunt-and-peck, cut-and-paste palette. The idea is, you can create characters that look like you, your friends, your uncle, etc. and play Wii games as those characters. Nintendo’s hope is that you’ll find Wii games more fun to play, if you’re actually IN the game.

But very soon after the Wii arrived, many Wii owners began making celebrity caricatures and a wide variety of artistic creations with the Mii palette, photographing them (often going to the trouble of trying to get clear photographs of their TV screen), and posting the pictures on the internet. These designs, particularly ‘CelebriMiis’, have proven extremely popular among gamers and non-gamers alike - there was Wall Street Journal article about celebrity Miis!

Why?   Two reasons:

1) the Mii editor is dead-simple to use, you don’t need to be an artist to make a Mii.

2) the results are generally hilarious.

In any case, Mii communities began to spring up on the internet, comprised of artists and fans, and a “genre” of art was born.  Miis are no longer simply created with the intention that they’ll be used to play Wii Sports Tennis…. Most of us make Miis for laughs, and as a creative pursuit, and for the challenge in trying to put together something artful, with such a primitive set of tools.

ShowMii.com serves to showcase the best examples I can find, share tips and techniques, and to encourage Wii owners to go next-level with their Miis.

Browse the blog, and see what Mii artists have accomplished. Laugh, Learn, Be inspired. Then if you have time, play some Wii Sports tennis with Tyler Durden and Britney Spears.
