I was sent this Jodie Foster Mii by TChaos… for the last little while he’s been sending me Miis, trying to come up with something I’ll post on the site… I told him that his Miis, so far, are good but not great… well, he didn’t feel rejected, he kept on trying, which is awesome…
Anyway, in my opinion his Jodie Foster Mii is incomplete… but he’s learning, he selected all the the right features… things just aren’t sitting right… in other words, the Mii needs fine tuning:

And here is Jodie, after the ShowMii.com makeover:

Still not perfect but a lot closer. You could make a valid argument that her nose should be a click smaller, to emphasize her eyes and mouth more… it’s a matter of taste. But Note that the feature choices in both Miis are the same, except for the eyebrows, which I thought needed to be shorter, and the jawline, which needed to be stronger. But the eyes, mouth and noses are the same… it’s a matter of size and spacing.
Jodie has a really distinctive stare so slightly over-sizing the eyes works well. Her mouth is trickier because seems small and tight and pursed, yet somehow big at the same time… I debated whether to give her a small mouth or a big one, a lipsticked one or a flat one, for example, the single horizontal line mouth… this is a compromise. I decided to give her a small mouth, relative to her eyes, and I made the mouth area more prominent with the jaw choice. Also, I know her eyes are in fact light blue, but grey seems to re-create her unique stare a little more closely… you can only do so much with the Mii palette… I like the grey eyes for Jodie.
My hope is that this post illustrates that when making Miis, fine-tuning can make all the difference. This being said, TChaos was on the right track, and did a lot of the decision-making for me.
And yes I’m aware that fiddling with features making tiny adjustments for a half hour or an hour isn’t everyone’s idea of fun… either you love this crap, or you don’t I guess. But fine tuning really is everything!
